Booking OverviewOur facility has 4 'sheets' of ice for you to choose to curl on. Each is named after a family who has contributed greatly to curling and, therefore, the creation of the only indoor curling rink in the Southern Hemisphere.
Simply select a rink below to continue with your booking. Should the day and/or time you require not be available simply return to this page and select another sheet. If you have more than 8 people in your group and require more than one sheet you will be able to do this within the booking process.

McKnight Sheet (A)
James McKnight, a keen sportsman and enthusiastic curler, was a foundation member of the Blackstone Hill Club in 1885. Every generation has carried on this ancient tradition to the present day. The same area of land taken up by James at Blackstone Hill continues to be farmed by fourth generation McKnight’s.

Scott Sheet (B)
Of true Scottish blood, the Scott family was integral in creating a home for curling in New Zealand. James Wally Scott bought land in Kyeburn in 1878 which is still farmed today by John (Jock) Scott and family. Jock spearheaded the creation of the first artificially frozen ice surface in Central Otago & the construction of the world’s first outdoor natural luge track.

Greer Sheet (C)
Originating from Ireland, the Greer family have lived in the Maniototo for over 130 years. In 1876 Patrick Greer bought land at Patearoa known as ‘Crieve’ named after Crievagh in Ireland. His grandson, Alan Greer was a foundation member of the Kyeburn Curling Club. Sam, Dave and Tim Greer still curl for the club today.

Francis Sheet (D)
Having both curled since the early 1900’s as well as contributing to the creation of today’s International Ice rink, the Francis family is engrained in the history of this traditional sport. Doug Francis, alongside Jim Becker, was awarded the honour of delivery the first stones at the opening of the rink in 2005.
